Estranhos Encontros presents Frans van de Staak

From 20 to 27 September, the second edition of Estranhos Encontros: São Paulo International Film Festival presents, for the first time in Brazil and Latin America, a retrospective devoted to Dutch filmmaker Frans van de Staak (1943–2001), in partnership with the Eye Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. Eleven of his films will be screened on 16mm at Centro Cultural São Paulo, with his son Stefan van de Staak joining the programme for a conversation about his father’s work.

On the occasion of last year’s Van de Staak retrospective at CINEMATEK in Brussels, Sabzian published an extensive collection of texts and film pages exploring his work. You can read the collection here.
